The Radice Files — Issue #125: “Is TV dead?”

Quick answer…no. But it certainly has morphed from the only game in town. There is no doubt that streaming has changed the landscape, but TV still plays a significant and vital role. The real question is, do we really need it? Sure, the hardware isn’t going anywhere, but mobile devices and the stream have paved the way forward. After bingeing 100 episodes of “Gotham,” I thought about how a weekly broadcast became a successful on line hit. Is there is a synergy forming? Maybe, but the winner isn’t in the broadcast spectrum any more.

Traditional TV “Not Dead Yet” But Online Video Is Closing Fast: Study
